Korean 10-Step Skincare Routine - Sensitive Skin

Always find yourself shocked when you catch yourself in the mirror? My skin wasn't this red when I left the house this morning! Redness and sensitivities can be difficult to deal with, especially when it comes to your complexion. We've previously sorted out the Korean 10-Step Skincare Routine for dry and oily/ acne prone skin types, and today we're going to tackle a routine suited for those of us with sensitive skins.

Sensitive skin types can be easily triggered, and using products with the wrong ingredients can lead to redness, itchiness or other allergic reactions. We've compiled some of our favorite products that soothe irritations, whisk away redness and overall improves the health of your skin. Here's our breakdown on the 10-step skincare routine for sensitive skins!

Step 1: Makeup Removers
While this section usually features oil-based cleansers, sometimes using something a little milder can do your skin some good. You'll still definitely want to double cleanse, but try this no-oil cleansing water instead. Tony Moly's The Chok Chok Green Tea No-Wash Cleansing Water is a gentle but powerful cleanser that removes dirt and all kinds of residue on your skin, makeup included! It also doesn't contain any artificial pigments, synthetic fragrances, benzophenone, parabens, animal products, mineral oil or talc, making sure this doesn't irritate your skin.

Step 2: Cleanser
We love a gentle cleanser that not only doesn't irritate the skin, but also effectively removes dirt and oil from the skin. CosRX's Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is slightly acidic to suit the skin's natural pH level for a healthy environment.  It also helps to exfoliate dead skin cells, shrink enlarged pores and treats blemishes for a fresh, flawless complexion, plus it doesn't add dryness to the skin, making it great for sensitive skin.
Step 3: Exfoliator
Keep the abrasions at a minimum with an ultra-gentle exfoliator like Althea Collection's Milk Peel Cream Mask. This mask-cum-exfoliator contains milk casein protein to fortify the skin's barrier, while AHA and BHA gently whisk away impurities and dead skin flakes, leaving you with clean, smooth skin without any of the irritations.
Step 4: Toner
Choosing a toner can be quite a tricky one as your skin needs something calming and soothing without the sting astringent toners may come with. Try out the Waterful Green Bamboo Pads from Althea Collection. These Tencel sheets are gentle on the skin and have been soaked in a solution that contains green bamboo extract to instantly calm and hydrate sensitivities. They're also brilliant for a spot masking treatment, great for a quick fix whenever redness decides to show up.

Step 5: Serum
Serums are packed full of ingredients that target your skin's needs, so it's essential that you find one with soothing and strengthening properties. Nacific's Fresh Cica Plus Clear Serum contains highly concentrated Centella Asiatica that helps to soothe and hydrate irritated skin. Plus it helps that this is a non-sticky formula that's easily absorbed into the skin!

Step 6: Ampoule
Sometimes, less truly is more. A'Pieu's Madecassoside Ampoule is made with just two ingredients: Centella Asiatica Extract and Madecassoside! This powerful duo delivers hydration to the skin as it helps to calm breakouts and redness. Be sure you don't skip this step!

Step 7: Mask
Cooling down the skin after a long day is crucial to ensuring your skin doesn't flush out of control. We love these Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Soothing Hydra Solution masks that have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and moisturizing properties. They also contain ingredients that help create a protective moisture barrier, instantly quenching and cooling parched, sensitive skin.

Step 8: Eye Product
Secret Key's Starting Treatment Eye Cream Rose Edition is specially formulated to soothe and moisturize the delicate eye area. It's infused with galactomyces and bifida, two ingredients that repair the skin and firm up sagginess, ensuring you look bright eyed and awake all day.

Step 9: Cream
Time to seal everything in! Althea Collection's Skin Relief Calming Cream is a nourishing and protective cream made with panthenol and deep sea water to remove redness and fortify the skin's barrier, taking extra care towards sensitivities.

Step 10: Face Mist
We've included this as the last step as keeping a mist with you throughout the day can help to keep redness away. The sister of the infamous aloe vera gel, Nature Republic's 92% Soothing Gel Mist gives you all that goodness in an easy to use spritz bottle that's perfect to carry in your hand bag. Made with organic aloe extracts, this helps to cool down flushes caused by heat. Plus, spraying this over makeup helps to set it and keep it in place too.

Phew! That was quite a bit of information, wasn’t it? We hope this guide helps those of you out there with sensitive complexions, and it paves the way for plump, radiant skin that'll make even a lightbulb jealous!
