Did you think we would stop at one interview? Nah, hun. We are featuring another Die Hard Fan of Althea's and she goes by the name Samantha Chong! This week's Die Hard Fan landed on the world of K-beauty in 2013 and has been happily 'stranded' here with the rest of us K-beauty enthusiasts. Keep reading to find out more about her journey in the K-beauty world.
1) Hi, Samantha! Please tell us a little bit about yourself and how you became interested in K-beauty.
I go by @scyriuscilfero on Instagram, and I love reviewing and testing out new products! I'm obsessed with makeup and skincare, and I have been obsessing over K-beauty since 2013! Thereafter, I started looking more into it and trying out more and more. The greatest draw of K-beauty is their ingredients and super affordable prices! I have terribly sensitive skin and I am acne-prone. I do enjoy reading ingredient lists (Science background, hehe) and I am relieved that a lot of Korean beauty products do not include ingredients that are harmful or irritating to the skin.
2) In your most honest opinion, tell us what really makes Althea special.
I actually discovered Althea on Instagram and began buying boxes from them. I love how free shipping is available without spending an exorbitant amount. The boxes were seriously my favourite thing and I'm hoping they will be brought back! I was able to get specially curated boxes with amazing products at affordable prices. The boxes were also usually curated around a certain skin concern (eg. Soothe Our Skin) or brand (eg. Onsameein). These boxes, as well as Althea's platform, has helped me to discover brands that I would otherwise not be exposed to by other online shops that only focus on hyped products. Products I find featured on my IG page are also readily available on Althea!
3) From all the years of using K-beauty products, what is the one beauty product you trust?
Son and Park Beauty Water!
It's actually my holy grail toner because it's very hydrating and effective in providing light exfoliation. It keeps my skin clear and it removes any makeup residue that my cleansing routine may have missed. For its price, it comes in a large bottle (340ml) and I have found it to be more effective in soothing and hydrating my sensitive skin than some high-end toners out there.
I use it in the morning and at night, and in a pinch, it's able to remove sunscreen too! I have dry, dehydrated and very sensitive skin and this does not irritate me at all. It contains quite a few plant oils and rose and lavender water that are both soothing and hydrating! I always keep backups of it because I'm terribly afraid to be without it! I would totally recommend this toner and I always do when asked about my holy grail products or product recommendations!
